The Costa Rica Adventure Tour in 2012 is open to All Travelers! Singles travelers and group travelers are welcome! 

Join us on our Costa Rica Adventure Tour for a much needed winter break, and warm up with a week exploring this fascinating country. Enjoy an impressive selection of adventure sports, guided tours, and activities that highlight some of the best sights that Costa Rica has to offer- From whitewater rafting to wildlife viewing in Manuel Antonio to watching a live volcano erupt in the evening after a swim in a hot springs. This fully guided Costa Rica tour includes the capital of San Jose, The mountains of Arenal and Monteverde Cloud forest and of course Costa Rica's famous beaches on the Pacific coast. In addition you may sample local cuisine and get an insight into the local cultures you will be visiting!

Itinerary

Costa Rica Vacation: Guided Adventure Tour- Multi-Sport trip

Sat. March 24th / Transfer in – San Jose / Today's meals on your own
Arrival: After exiting the plane, and passing the immigration point- look for a person at the end of the ramp holding a placard with your name on it. Our staff will provide assistance with luggage and private transportation to the hotel in San Jose. Your local host will be there to take you to the hotel, give you a quick briefing, and welcome you to the trip.
The rest of the day and evening is at your leisure to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities (i.e. pool, spa, casino, etc) or explore some of San Jose. Your local guide and driver as well as hotel staff can inform you on some good options and answer questions.
*After everyone has arrived, we would like to get you all to have a chance to meet the others in the group via an evening meetup. Time and location: To Be Announced  Accommodations at Best Western Irazu in Premier Rooms

Sun. March 25th/ San Jose / Breakfast & Lunch included

06:50 Hrs: Your host will meet you this morning in the lobby in order to embark on your first tour of the trip. Depart on the Combo Costa Rica Adventure Tour (Poás Volcano, Doka Coffee State, La Paz Waterfall Gardens with lunch)
Accommodation at Best Western Irazu

Tour description: To get to the different attractions included during this excursion we will drive by the city of Alajuela passing by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaría and the famous Mango Park. As we ascend towards the Poás Volcano we will notice the change in temperature and vegetation; we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful landscape. On the way to the volcano we will visit Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast and a coffee tour, in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn about the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce one of the best coffees in Costa Rica. Learn about the careful process involved on the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean. After the coffee tour we will continue to Poás Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this beautiful national park. Following the visit to the volcano we will continue to La Paz Waterfall Garden for lunch and tour. On arrival to the La Paz, we will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog's exhibit. After returning to the hotel from the tour the rest of the evening will be at your leisure. Each night your host will advise you on tomorrow's schedule and activities. Dinner on your own.

08:45 Hrs: Check out of hotel, meet your host in the lobby and head to Arenal for a tour of the Volcano with entrance to the Hot Springs of Tabacon (Lunch & Dinner included)

Tour description:The Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the Americas. As soon as we arrive in Fortuna; you will have a lunch at the Restaurant Que Rico Arenal. Next, we will visit the hot springs of Tabacon, where you can relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano. At a convenient time we will treat you to a splendid dinner with the entire tour group.

Tues. March 27th / Fortuna – Monteverde / Breakfast & Dinner included
Breakfast at your Hotel in Fortuna. Today our Costa Rica Adventure Tour takes us to the cloud forests of Monteverde.

Tour description:Get ready for an adrenaline surge! The Canopy adventure tour, one of the safest and most thrilling adventures of all time; open the door for you to explore the marvels of an untouched forest from its canopies. Indulge at the most amazing cloud forest's flora and fauna including a wide variety of epiphytes, monkeys and exotic birds. Fourteen platforms along 1.8 miles connected by stainless steel cables at an altitude of 300 feet help you cruise through the forest while attached at a top- class safety harness. For those seeking for a more relaxing overview of the forest, take advantage of our suspension walkways. Walk through our bridge system and peacefully admire the wonders of the virgin cloud forest from the level of its canopy.

Afternoon at leisure. Suggestions: Relax on one of the many beautiful beaches, explore Manuel Antonio National Park, or check out the quaint little town of Quepos.

07:50 Hrs: Transfer to the Iguana Tours offices to depart on your tour: White Water Rafting tour at Savegre river with lunch included

Tour description: First, our Manuel Antonio specialist will expertly guide and teach you how to navigate through this river experience. The Savegre River provides Class II, III and some IV rapids that are manageable in sturdy rafts that accommodate 2 to 6 people comfortably. Our guides stop at locally known swimming spots and breathtaking waterfalls, if the rafters want a break from paddling, and there is always time to enjoy the abundant variety of wildlife along the river. On most trips, rafters will observe egrets, osprey, toucans, parrots, kingfishers, cormorants, and many other species local to this protected area of the tropical rain forest. After a steady 13 mile trip down the river, we wind our way back to the little village of "Silencio" where a gladly awaited hot lunch "Tico Style" and local refreshments are waiting. Once fed, happy and well-traveled, our now experienced Savegre River rafters spend a leisurely trip home driving back to Manuel Antonio

Tour description: The adventure tour begins near the developing Pez Vela (Sail Fish) Marina in Quepos and winds along the Manuel Antonio coastline. Indulge yourselves at a rare jewel of a beach – a hidden Manuel Antonio treasure at Biezans Bay – for a refreshing swim and delicious local snacks. And feel free to have your bilingual naturalist guide direct you to the best snorkeling spots as you experience three small but growing, active, and astounding coral reef systems nestled very close to the shore of Biezans Bay. Or just relax and enjoy the tranquility of a private white sand beach. Then continue kayaking – if you choose to do so – towards Manuel Antonio National Park and wonder at the nearby nesting islands where exotic boobies and frigates call home year round. Ask your naturalist guide to steer you towards their favorite species' nesting spots and most popular locations for local aquatic marine life. And finally end your adventure with a relaxing yet rewarding hot meal in typical Costa Rican flavor near the beach at a local Manuel Antonio hot spot before you return to your Hotel
